Shay is Walking!

Shay is not quite trucking it across the living room yet, but she often stands for over 30 seconds at a time, and has taken 3-4 steps on multiple occasions. Tonight she stood while holding a couple toys for about a minute. It was almost like she forgot she was standing because she was so into looking at what she had in her hands. I don't think it will be long before she's walking everywhere.

Kysa continues to be a laugh a minute, although she still isn’t potty trained. Last night I could tell she was straining to poop, and I called her on it, she took off at a full sprint to the bathroom and grabbed the potty seat to put on the toilet—she knew what to do. But she’s just not quite there yet. Or maybe I’m not there yet! I worked with her a couple of weeks ago for about 4 hours, had her in panties and everything, but it didn’t happen. Camille has a great book called “Potty Training in less than a Day”, and I’m pretty sure if I followed it that it would work. But the problem is that it says everyone has to leave except for me and Kysa, and we haven’t been able to make that happen as of yet.

Kysa is sometimes a bully--she frequently pulls Shay's hair and say "NO Shay Shay!", but I think she's doing better. She doesn't just follow Shay around and do mean things to her, it's usually when Shay invades her space or is trying to push buttons on the tv that Ky will work her over. Thankfully, she can be quite loving when she wants to be. She loves to take care of her little stuffed animals. She pretends to feed them, dress them, and put them to sleep—always with a blanket. One of my favorite things is what she does when she hears a dog bark. She gets excited about points and says, “Doggy…Wooof!”

Raleigh played in his first basketball game with his cousins on Saturday. He has been told that he is a “redshirt” and will only play a little bit, but of course he wanted to be out there. That is until somebody ran into him and he started crying and I had to have one of the twins sub in for him. He also got beaned in the head by the basketball when the kids were warming up—just a rebound. He’s too little, but man he loves doing anything he can with his cousins.

Last week Austin and Rachel came over with the girls on their way home from the Rexburg temple open house. It was a lot of fun—the girls stayed with us so Austin and Rachel could go get something to eat, and Connor was also here because Rigby had a game at Hillcrest that night. We played basketball on our little hoop, but it was getting too rough, so we switched to a dance off. It was just a game where the kids had to dance and then freeze when I hit pause on the remote (We were using the music channels on the Dish.) They thought it was such a blast and played it for over a half hour. And then of course they were excited to show off when Austin and Rachel got back.

Speaking of dancing, Shay tries to dance just like Kysa used to, and it’s so cute! She be-bops that little head of hers anytime the cell phone rings or she hears music playing on the television. She also be-bops when we say “dance”. She doesn’t do the sign language but says “mo mo mo” when she wants more. (Kysa says, “moy moy moy” ) Shay also says “ba ba” when she wants her bottle.
