anniversary

Ty lined up Eliza (and Emma) to babysit tonight so we could go to dinner and a movie for our 8^th anniversary.  We tried Ruby River and then went to “Baby Mama” with Troy and Janet.  We got a lot of laughs.  Amy Poehler is hilarious.  We made the mistake of coming home to check on the kids before the show, and when we looked in to check on Shay she woke up and freaked out, so I told Ty to go and I stuck around to calm her down.  She is such a mama’s girl right now.  I think she would have been fine if Ty would have looked in on her, but she saw me and it was O-V-E-R.  Thankfully I only missed the first 25 minutes of the show.  It could have been worse.

 

Kelsy came up to visit on Thursday and helped me with the kids.  It was good to see her.  She brought her dog Dex and he got off the chain.  Luckily somebody found him and called Dallas from his tag, and the person brought him back to the house.  Dex had to stay in his kennel after that.  Kelsy brought up several Game Cube games and Raleigh has been thoroughly enjoying playing them, especially Mario Party 6. 

 

Kysa is really into Dora the Explorer right now.  She tells me, “I watch Dora”.  And she gets really made if she can’t. I remember when Raleigh went through the Dora stage.   She also wanted to have a “mick-mick” today.  That’s how she pronounces picnic.

The kids had a great time at Giff and Mari's Sunday after Nash's baby
blessing. Stafford left today for basic training in Oklahoma. We are
really proud of him.

May 1st Snowstorm

May 1st is not a day that you expect to tell your 2 year old to stop eating the snow. "I eat the snow!" Kysa exclaimed. What the heck is going on with our weather! Thankfully, we have had some nice days since. It's about time.

 

Raleigh is always good about helping scrape off the windows when it snows.

Weekend in Paul

Ty's golfers had a practice round at Rupert on Saturday so we decided to make it a family trip and stay overnight, and then hit Nash Gillette's baby blessing and the dinner at Giff and Mari's (in Pocatello) on the way home.

We had to stop at Snake River high school where Eliza was playing volleyball to drop some dance stuff off with Janet that Hannah and Olivia had left as our house. I was bummed that we didn't have time to stop and see Grandma Rue, but I gave her a call and Claire and Dale were there so that made me feel better.

We met mom and the Minico baseball game and then she took the kids home. I got to go golfing for the first time this year and it was fun. I got tired and hungry towards the end of the round and I was so excited to go to Stevo's afterwards. I ate all my food and took home Boston and Tyson's leftover fries. What a treat!

We had fun playing outside with Nochie and Max. Raleigh played frisbee for a long time with Ty. Shay had a lot of fun on the trampoline and cracked us up. She was not quite as wild as Kysa was at her age, but she was still pretty aggressive.

Kysa continues to be a daredevil. When Ty woke up he came upstairs to find her out front banging on the door to be let in. I was still asleep, and Grandma and Grandpa had already left for church. She informed Ty she'd been out playing with the doggie.

Later she got on the trampoline by herself and I was standing in the doorway watching her. She decided she wanted to get off and said, "Mom, help." I said, "Okay Ky, I'm comin'."

She said, "No, I jump." So she did. And she stuck the landing, like a gymnast. She landed in a perfect little squat, then stood up, no wobbling at all. How many two year old jump off trampolines, and land on their feet? Raleigh told me she jumped off the trampoline this winter a few times, but I never witnessed it. So i guess he wasn't kidding.

Broken Mirror, Skyline Parking Lot Diaper Change

Uncle Perry's horse trailer is hooked up to the Expedition awaiting the move to the new house in a couple of weeks. Since the Booster Club was needing help, I volunteered to bring the horse trailer over to a Party Rental place to haul stuff to Skyline for the big Hall of Fame banquet tomorrow night. Shay kept Kysa and I had Raleigh and Kysa get in the Ex. As usual I had to run back in the house for something. In the meantime, Kysa climbed in the back and thought it would be a good idea to straddle a door mirror that I hadn't unloaded, and broke it into pieces. Luckily she didn't get cut, but Raleigh managed to get a little cut on his finger. Of course, he was freaking out when I got out to the car and realized he had a little blood on his finger. He got spanked on the way into the house because he wouldn't stop flipping out--I'm sure it really helped....I ended up leaving him home so Ty could deal with him. We had a good talk about it tonight and he laughed. He's pretty good about putting himself in other people's shoes, and I made him tell me what he would tell his son (if his son was freaking out about a tiny little cut on his finger) if he was the dad. Anyway, after that we were looking at our old blog entries and I asked him what I should write about for today and he said, "Kysa breaking the mirror." I do as I am told....some of the time.

Shay has started to say a couple new words--she said "juice" very clearly tonight when she wanted a juice box. She makes a little circle with her lips when she says it and holds it--it's pretty cute. She also likes to say "nope", and when she does she really emphasizes the ending and actually bring out her lower lip and blows air out of her mouth so it makes her bangs move. It's "No-puh". She does it on purpose and it's pretty funny.

Shay will follow directions from us on a few things now, like closing doors, throwing stuff in the garbage, etc. We'll tell Raleigh to brush his teeth and Shay will run to the bathroom like she's on a "million dollar treasure hunt" as Ty likes to say. Same thing with taking a bath. Brushing her teeth is definitely a favorite activity of hers.

Shay's second favorite word right now is still shoes--she loves to say "sh-shoes" and she loves to put on any pair of shoes she can get her hands on. Raleigh has taught her the McDonald's jingle--buh buh buh buh buh--lovin' it. and of course since that's not that far off from ba-ba, so she tried to imitate him and sing that. (Her favorite word is still ba-ba.)

Oh wow, I almost forgot! The funniest thing today of all was Kysa at Skyline. She told me she pooped her pants, so we had to go out to the car to get a diaper for her. There wasn't a diaper in the car so I told her to stay there and I quickly ran over to the Expedition which was a few parking spaces away. I grabbed a diaper and turned around, and there was Kysa, laying on her back in the middle of the parking lot with her legs in the air, ready for me to change her. It was so funny I quickly grabbed my video camera and got evidence.

I think it's time to get that girl potty trained! Yikes. But did I ever get a chuckle out of that one.

Cogs are causing trouble

The Toontown site has been causing Raleigh to have heartburn all morning due to frequent bugs that keep kicking him out of his favorite game.

Finally, we got a message that the site had been shut down for maintenance because "the Cogs had been throwing wrenches in the computer system." I read it to Raleigh and he started cracking up. He told me later in the evening that "It's because the Cogs are tired of everybody trying to kill them."

Kysa likes to watch Raleigh play Toontown and talks about the Cogs, which makes Grandma Ro laugh.

Shay's diagnosis

I took Shay to the doctor today.  She has had a runny nose for like 3 weeks and had a rough night and a low grade fever this morning, so we thought maybe an ear infection.  Turns out she doesn’t have anything that needs treated with antibiotics.  She might be teething, or just have another virus…it’s probably teething.  But we did get one solid diagnosis:  Shay has a serious case of bratitis.  The symptoms include whining, throwing her head back when she doesn’t get her way, hitting Kysa, crying when mom or dad leaves the room, and constantly saying “no”.  The prescription is for her parents to stop spoiling her immediately.  This is hard to do when “bratitis” can be confused with really being sick, as parents feel like they need to hold and comfort her since she must be sick if she is acting like she is so miserable.  However, this only prolongs the bratitis.

Postcard for Trail Creek Crossing

week in review

We went to visit Grandma Rue last Monday, and I had to drive over to
Springfield to take some pictures of a property we are listing. The kids
were good sports and had fun walking through the pasture. Raleigh and Kysa
enjoyed throwing rocks into the crick at Grandma's. I have so many great
memories of time spent at Grandma's house--it's a real treat anytime I can
take my kids to visit her.

Mom came up to help me out on Friday and Saturday so I could get some things
done and help Barb Ehardt coach a 7th grade team in a tournament. She spent
the last couple nights at Grandma Rue's. She is going in for her second
round of chemotherapy tomorrow and mom is taking her. We are saying lots of
prayers for her.

Ty played in a basketball tournament this weekend at American Falls and they
won the championship. Raleigh went with him both days. There were lots of
kids for him to play with. Grandpa Jer-Bear came and watched some of the
games on Saturday with Clyde Harper as Giff also had a team in the
tournament.

Raleigh helped me clean off cabinets so I could paint them one last coat
tonight, and earlier in the week he helped me put in some hardwood in our
new house. I still have to finish up tiling three bathrooms and a couple of
backsplashes, and the contractors have to finish the fireplace, painting,
trim, and putting in all the ceiling fans. Then clean up will certainly
take a couple of days and we'll finally be able to move in after that. I'm
excited about the neighborhood. Rob Hansen has already helped me with a
couple of things, and it will definitely be fun to be down the street from
the Murdochs.

Darth Kysa

Ty is watching Star Wars V with Raleigh and the theme song for the Empire was just playing. Ty said, “That’s what they need to play when Kysa walks into the nursery.”
